On June 8th I will bike ride thirty miles in the Tour de Cure to benefit the American Diabetes Association. I joined a colleague’s team who has diabetes and this weekend we continued our training. Prior to this weekend we would go once a week on the flat bike path along the river behind our office. This weekend we did ten miles on a hilly terrain, because the thirty miles, they’re going to be hilly. Next week we will ride 20 miles and the following weekend is the thirty mile ride.
This ride, of course, has a larger meaning. It is a fund-raising event to help support the mission of the American Diabetes Associations. But it will also be a personal accomplishment for me as well. It’s been a lot of fun adding something new to my workout routine and this ride will be a real test to my fitness. A mile for every pound I have lost. And if a few more want to shed off during the ride, you won’t hear me complaining.
Many millions of thanks to my husband, Tom, for letting me use his very fun to ride bike (along with all the accessories including his helmet). Your bike is awesome, thanks for letting me lower the seat. And speaking of seats, thanks to my mom for the cushioned bike shorts!
Wish me and my team luck!!
